Tomorrow is my last final of my first semester of law school!!!! Thank you Jesus! I’ve grown so much over the past few months. There have been assignments that at first glance I could have easily said “ummm…I don’t know how to analyze this” or whatever. Obviously, I really can’t do that, so it has forced to me tackle things that seem so far over my head. Never in the moment am I grateful for the challenge, but right after the exam?? YASSSS I did it! I don’t know how well I did it, but I faced it head on.
I’ve had other challenges besides just academic here in deer/moose/bear country. It’s been a challenge dealing with R, to say the least. On two occasions I’ve come close to jumping on the road to pick up my girls. These challenges have not been “I would have done it this way, rather than that way” challenges. They’ve been “this dude has some cognitive deficits” challenges. Smh We’re at the half way point so I’m holding on.
I’ll share my most recent battle. I had plans to return to NY, and head to MD on Xmas eve for a week. Our communication has been below sea level. I didn’t communicate my plans with him. Not intentionally. I’m used to making my plans and doing my thing, plus like I said, there’s been so much tension that we barely speak. T told him about our plans, he called and told me he wants the girls on Xmas. He doesn’t want me to pick them up until the 26th. In an effort to compromise I suggested he have them Xmas eve, and Xmas morning. I could pick them up Xmas afternoon so I could still make it to the fam in MD for the festivities. No…he says. He wants them the entire day. His best argument is that he’s never had them for any holiday since we’ve been separated. True? Absolutely. Has he ever made any plans where he’s expressed wanting to incorporate them? Negative. It pissed me off and it hurt. You use the year that I’m away, the year where I miss them so much it hurts sometimes, to pull this crap? Had he EVER asked to have them it wouldn’t be an issue. Low blow, you can’t play that card sir. I said what I had to say, and I left it alone. I’m not going to fight about it.
I’m not going to let it shake my feel good. T is a dance major, she’s in the 8th grade now! I can’t believe it. Anywhoo, when I get back on the 22nd, its a surprise, but I’m taking her to see the Alv-inA-ileyCo-mpany perform downtown. I’m so excited, I hope she enjoys it. I know I will!
I have a surprise for Bird as well, I’ll tell ya’ll about it next week.
I watched a documentary “Forks over Knives.” Heard of it? I’m already pescetarian…almost 2.5 years now, but after seeing this I’m really considering going vegan. We’ll see.
I’ve been on “Operation Tight Waist” since Thanksgiving. I’m 35, I’m not in bad shape. I have the acceptable muffin top. You know the muffin top that one might expect after someone has had 2 kids, and hasn’t really fallen off, just not tight. That’s me. But I want wanna be tight. I’ve stopped eating after 7pm…generally I eat at 6pm/ I drink lots of water with lemon. That’s been wonderful. It’s replaced my cokes and coffee. It keeps me perky way beyond those eye glazing afternoon classes. A difference most definitely. I do zumba twice a week. I started power walking the morning, which was great also. We had one real cold and rainy morning, and that was all she wrote.
I’m going to see how I can document and share the changes to my body without really putting myself out there.
I miss ya’ll!!

Congratulations on completing your first semester of law school! You are doing it big!
Don’t worry about R cause you have to get all the time in you can with the girls and other family/friends before getting ready for the next semester.
