Summer Rading

Whatchu reading?  I found an author that I just love, her name is Sherri Lewis.  I like her writing style and the realism in her storylines.  She authors christian fiction.  By happenstance I picked up her book “My Soul Cries Out”.  When I finished I wanted another one by her..I chose “Selling my Soul”. It was the sequel, but I had no idea when I picked it up…its goooood.

So here..if you like to read go pick up all of her books.  I purchased The List on Wednesday…finished it last night.  I’m about to start Dance Into Destiny.

kibbles n bits

My exam was last Monday and I feel really good about it.  Such a load has been lifted.  When I arrived, I was really happy to see that the room was filled with so many diverse people.  That made me smile.  I also observed a woman sitting on the floor diagramming and timing herself.  If you don’t have it by now….. 

The test flew by for me although I was there from 12:30-6:00. 

Bird and I went to visit my grandmother on Sunday.  She’s not doing well, and I almost wished that the end would….

We were in the elevator leaving when a spanish man who knew no english spoke to an english Bird who spoke no spanish…lol, and then he gave her allll of the change out of his pocket.  It was so funny to watch.

I love basketball, but I only watch during the playoffs and finals.  I don’t know the last time I’ve felt this competitive watching the finals.  I’m sure I have, but it hasn’t been in a looooong time. bleep bleep bleep bleep you Fakers…go Celtics!!

I have been having the weirdest dreams.  The other night I dreamt I received my lsat score in the mail.  I opened the letter, spotted the score and then hooted, then my dream looped again.  I opened the letter, spotted the score, it was less so I was a bit disappointed…then it looped again.  It did this several times until I was completely devastated.

I still want to go to NC for law school.  With my health issues my mother is totally against it.  I understand her concerns, but staying in NY isn’t so great for my health either.  I’m still working with my new doctor to get stabilized.  She’s been tweaking my medication, hopefully I’ll be like new way before law school comes…then both of our minds can be at ease.

I spoke with my cousin who said that there’s virtually no traffic there.  I confirmed it with my friend as well…that’s unheard of!

I feel like I’m busier now then when I worked.  My to-do list is endless, but I’m REALLY enjoying my time off.  I hope to do some really fun things with the girls this summer.  I just spoke with T’s dance teacher.  She is one of very few students who were hand selected to attend a dance program this summer.  She is so happy, and I’m thrilled for her.

When I got home last night Bird had this waiting for me.

I got my hair cut on Friday.  I went to a she she salon, for what they did I could have gone to a local and gotten the same quality hair cut.  It’s a good cut, but ya kno…it’s a standard cut.  I also wanted to go funky with highlights.  They did a strand test and my hair didn’t survive it *sigh*.

My hair was finished with a blow out.  I went to choir rehearsal that night and this woman stopped me and seemed sad that my hair was straight..she said that I was the reason she put braids in..she wants to transition.  That was so nice.  I would have never known.

Do you use Aloe Vera? I love it, and use it for almost everything.  It reminds me of EVOO in that way.  I’ve been using it as a gel for our hair.  It works so well, and it’s natural. 

I’m enrolled in summer classes.  I see the end in sight!

I’m going to take a few short temp assignments this summer.   I don’t want anything long term or perm yet. 

It is 11:59am and I haven’t had anything to eat yet.  I’mma go rectify that right now.

Recipe Giveaway

Some tips
- I don’t cook pork or scanvengers

- Anything too exotic will go over my head and I’ll probably get   discouraged looking for the ingredients

Weekend Turn-out

This weekend was chock full and a ball to say the least.

I headed to the DMV area Friday afternoon to hang out with family and friends.  Friday night we went to my cousin’s SIL’s home.  She was hosting a sister’s circle.  It was great to sit in.  The Thanksgiving theme was gratitude.  We took a moment and meditated on 1 Thessalonians 5:18  “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” KJV

We shared some of the things we were thankful for.  It’s second nature to say we’re thankful for family or for our jobs and homes or our children.  What about some of the other things…maybe some of the things that we don’t pay much attention to…those things that are on auto pilot.  I’m going to touch on this again on Wednesday for a give-away.

Saturday I hooked up with CreoleinDC for her Nintendo Wii Fit Plus party.  Do we have a good time? DID WE? WHAAAAT???? It was a riot..check it out

My 2 cents

That B12 vitamin is the B.Izness.  I feel a NOTICEABLE difference when I take it.  I say go get that.  I purchased it from Vita.min Shopp.e

What kind of mascara do you wear? I normally wear Lancome Definicils…it’s great, but a lil on the pricey side.  I decided to try Stiletto by May.bel.line.  I’m not impressed…not even a lil bit.  You would think with a name like Stiletto! Thumbs down…I like full lashes and this is just a tease.

I purchased Deva Set it Free over the weekend.  When I first used it on dry hair I hated it.  It felt very tacky, but when I woke up I had good, shiny, defined curls.  I even got great results on 2nd day without re-twisting. 

I used it again Wednesday night.  This time I deep conditioned my hair and applied it to my wet hair after I rinsed out the conditioner.  I LOOOOOVE IT!  I’m working on 3 day hair right now, without re-twisting AND I got a hair compliment this morning…can you believe it?  This is a keeper.

Cheaper to keep her

….well them.  Since the girls have been gone I’ve been shopping in stores and online like a mad person.  Real random too…spices…sheets…make-up.  I don’t have enough to occupy my time with school being over..for now and the girls being done.  I MISS THEM LOADS!! The cat is getting on my nerves. 

Did you know that Bath and Body Works is having a really good sale?  Went there last night and loaded up.

When I got home I made fried chicken and jasmine rice w/salad…mmmm.   I also watched Ch.ris.Ro.ck.  He is WILD.

This was one of my buys. 

I’m going to experiment tonight.  I have a bday party to attend Sat nite….and the following Sat nite…and the following Sat nite.  I’m really not looking forward…especially to this one.  It’s a boat ride.  When I’m ret tuh go…I’m ret tuh go.  It’s one my closest friends so I feel compelled to.

Each one reach one

I ran into an old friend that I grew up with some months back, while shopping in Tarzhay.  I’m funny acting sometimes (I’m real with myself) so when I first saw her my gut reaction was to keep walking as if I didn’t see her.  Instead I walked over and said hi.  She looked good and she explained to me that she had taken a leap and started her own non-profit.  After she finished explaining what her mission was I told her if there was any way that I could assist that I would. 

She asked me to be a professor and I accepted. She continued telling me about the major contacts that she’d been making, as she was speaking I thought about the lawyer that I used to work for and thought he would be a great contact for her.  In the next 30 seconds she mentioned his name and told me how she met him and how difficult it is to catch him.  My jaw dropped…I laughed and then told her that I used to work for him and her eyes got real big.  She said she met him at an event and he told her to reach out to his assistant, Kelly.  She had no idea that it was me.  It’s a small world.

These things are a heel’s best friend.  They have changed my life for the better and I don’t plan on ever giving them up.  These are the TRUTH! If I were you, I’d pick up a pair on the way home.  You can thank me later.

Wednesday Work Wear

I stole a page out of S23′sbook today.  I’ve decided to not shop for a bit…a bit is still undefined as of right now…lol

Anyhow, I shopped my closet.  I’m not sure if this is how S23 is doing it, but I put together an outfit that I’ve not coordinated before…that’s more of the challenge for me….so that’s when I’ll post.

I’ve not worn this pencil skirt is like 2 years…it’s dark purple….along with a purple cardigan ( I heart cardigans and belts thx to TBS).  Underneath the purple cardigan is a chartreuse green sleeveless ruffle top, accessorized with my black patent leather belt and my patent leather black peep toe shoes.  Maybe with a video catalogue I won’t need to write it down anymore.  Imma work this flip.

It’s Wednesday and we’re rain free in NYC, my hair is a lil crazy…not as defined as it was yesterday, so I pinned it into a curl-hawk.   Have a good one!
