Where’s the beef? Thursday, Nov 26 2009

I survived this Thanksgiving without eating meat. I was slightly concerned that I might buckle. When everyone starting fixing their plates I really didn’t have a desire for the turkey OR the pot roast–I was good. I did have a meat substitute and it was delish along with the rest of the fixin’s. 

Dinner is here at my aunt’s house.  When we arrived she was in the kitchen prepping a few last minute things.  She was talkin’ and then said “Your hair is BIG! I can see it outta the corner of my eye!” *gush* That’s a compliment to me

My 2 cents Friday, Oct 30 2009

That B12 vitamin is the B.Izness.  I feel a NOTICEABLE difference when I take it.  I say go get that.  I purchased it from Vita.min Shopp.e

What kind of mascara do you wear? I normally where Lancome Definicils…it’s great, but a lil on the pricey side.  I decided to try Stiletto by May.bel.line.  I’m not impressed…not even a lil bit.  You would think with a name like Stiletto! Thumbs down…I like full lashes and this is just a tease.

I purchased Deva Set it Free over the weekend.  When I first used it on dry hair I hated it.  It felt very tacky, but when I woke up I had good, shiny, defined curls.  I even got great results on 2nd day without re-twisting. 

I used it again Wednesday night.  This time I deep conditioned my hair and applied it to my wet hair after I rinsed out the conditioner.  I LOOOOOVE IT!  I’m working on 3 day hair right now, without re-twisting AND I got a hair compliment this morning…can you believe it?  This is a keeper.

Weekend forecast? Friday, Oct 16 2009

TGIF! We’re blessed to have made it through yet another week.  What’s going on in your neck of the woods for the weekend?

I don’t think I shared this, but I’ll be participating in the Breast Cancer walk on Sunday, the 18th.  We’ll have customized tee’s and walking in honor of Maggie, my MIL.  Is that strange that I never stopped calling her my MIL?  R and I divorced, but we didn’t.  Anyway…the whole family is walking.  She would be moved.

My camera failed me back in August, so I’ll need to get one before Sunday.  I want to take plenty of pics.  I’m 99% sure I’ll be getting a Can.on this time around.  It seems the quality pics that I admire all come from those power.shot cameras.

I have re-twisted my hair since Tuesday night.  This feels liberating…twisting is a royal pain sometimes.  I wore my hair in a fro..I was slightly concerned when T gave me that look this morning.  I decided to roll with it anyway…would be the first time I had a bad hair day.  What do you think?

Salon Stories – Boogies edition Wednesday, Sep 23 2009

Boogies is what I call these nasty knots! Ugh.  My hair is none to happy with me! No suh!  I left on Friday, and my hair was beautiful.

When Mexico’s humidity hit my hair….yikes!

My hair said bump you…and I retorted with bump you TOO! No scarve…some conditioner…but not enough to protect it from the sun’s beaming rays.

Last night I tried detangling and it was a struggle that I could not win.  These boogies were allllll over.

I’ve gotta dole out some serious tlc over the next week or so. 

There’s so much to share about my trip…bear with me and I’m sure I’ll have a post in a couple of days.

The last two pics were taken before I left the house.  The last two were taken after a normally very nice fountain started spitting on me as I walked to work.  Wind sucks.

So when I took out my rollers this morning I knew that something had gone amiss.

I have no idea why the right side of my hair revolted against curls, but thats ok.   I’ve learned how to turn my lemons into lemonade.

Salon Stories – Organized Chaos edition Tuesday, Sep 15 2009

 

 

This was me yesterday.  I coulda cut T last night…acting up while I need her to play photographer.  I know it’s not super clear, but its what I have.  I have about 30 variations of me just.like.this.  Here’s another.

 

T’s cutting off the top of my head and do you see Bird’s reflection in the mirror? Does it look like she’s being a good girl?

Anyway…’Organized Chaos’..that is what my hair was yesterday.  It was a nice poofy fro and I LOVED it.

Weekend Turn-out Monday, Aug 10 2009

My girls are home!!!!! They haven’t even gotten on my nerves yet   I picked them up from the airport on Saturday.  I was uber happy.

Surge
I sent out a text to 4 girlfriends posing the question…press or wear a curly fro for the boat ride.  Three to One responded curly…well that didn’t happen.  With all of my other preparation I didn’t have time to twist and curly so I blew it out and flat ironed it.  That was pretty exciting to “see” it.  I thought, and the girls agreed…that it has really grown.  I’ve not seen it out since late March.  I curled it and then pin curled it so it could set for a bit.

CP Time
Boarding time for the boat was 11:45pm.  How come they didn’t BEGIN boarding until like 1:00 am????? 

Dress to impress
There was one woman in particular that is my all time hero.  She must have confidence that the galaxies can’t even contain.  She wore a white lace bustier, with what looked like the bottom panty to a white bikini and…wait for it………………….wait……………………..a pink TUTU….yup….she sure did.  She also had on a white garter.

The Fall
Fall is what my hair did….HARD…I might add.  By the end of the night everybody was looking at me and shaking their head…lol.  One girl said you look like Joan…I decided to take that as a compliment! lol  I wish I took a before pic.  This was my last dance.

Good Times
I had a banging headache for most of the night, but I enjoyed the company.  The bday girl had a blast.  I’m happy for her…she deserved it.

I got home at 6 a.m. and had to be up at 10a.m. to get ready for class.  That won’t be happening again any time soon.

Randomness Wednesday, Aug 5 2009

My Aug 8th party is pink and white.  My Aug 22nd party is all white.  I hate that.

I played in my make-up last night.  I need much more play time…lol

Insomnia is back.

I went to the gym…early this AM.  It’s been a minute.  I didn’t stretch.  I’m soooooooo sore.

Alot of prayers are being answered.  Its a joy to highlight them in my book!

I’ve OFFICIALLY started to study for the lsat.  I need a head start considering my fall and spring course load.

I’m going to register in April to take it in June.

Isn’t that right around the corner???

I start my 2nd summer class on Friday.

My mom called me type A…again..last night. 

The summer is over…finito…not that we ever REALLY had one.

I saw Mr. K recently…he said I lost my butt…I agree *eyes stretched*.

How tragic.  I hate when that happens.

The girls were supposed to hook up with TBS…she had to cancel this go round.

I don’t particularly care for ATL, but I think I’m going to apply for a school out there.  I have alot of friends there. I wouldn’t be lonely.

I think I may be homesick in NC.  I’m sure I’d get over it in time.  I hope.

If you gonna pray why worry…if you gonna worry why pray.  Right?

Sometimes men are wayyyy worse than women when it comes to relationships that are bad for them.

I do not have an all white outfit and I DON’T wanna buy one.

I’m hosting a RHOA shindig tomorrow night….can’t WAIT!

AR Gal had a good idea wit them shirts.  I’d wear one…lol

I miss them girls SILLLLLLY!

I haven’t worn those suede magenta shoes yet…I don’t know what to wear them with.  If these chicks let me pick my own colors to wear to they parties MAYBE I could!  I’m lyin’…I ain’t hardly wearing them shoes to a party on my first go round.

My chance to make it to the beach went right out the flippin’ window on Sunday.

I can’t WAIT for Cancun.  There will be 4 of us.  Easy breezy gals…no drama.

I’m ready to plot another.

I’m sooo glad those journalists were released.  I can’t imagine the agony for the families.

I watched More to Love last night.

My cat is needy.  Have you EVER heard of such?

Hooking up after work with some of my fav girls.  That’ll be fun.

Moses and I are trying to re-schedule.

I’m not calling it a date, BUT I would like to do more dates during the day.  

I’m challenging myself.  For a week, I will not vent/complain/seek counsel from anyone else other than God.  This may seem trivial, but I’d like to see how this works out.  Keep me in line.

My favorite scent right now is Pink Sugar

I can really tell the difference with the henna.  I don’t plan to use Indigo again.  Regular semi perm is just fine for me.

Catch-up Monday, Aug 3 2009

Wednesday

I had to report to jury duty on Wednesday.  I was soo looking forward to it as a mini-vacation.  My book *check*  Music *check* comfortable clothing *check*.  I can go to bed later and wake up later…*check*. They normally keep you 3 days and then release you if you don’t get called.  My name was called on day 1 and I was dismissed within 2 hours.  I was pissed…lol  My grandiose plans of low pressure and low stress out the window.
